Course Description

Invasive plants, including provincially regulated noxious weeds, can have huge environmental and economical impacts on projects but are often overlooked until it’s too late. If identified early, many of these plants can be managed and eradicated from the site; however, if ignored, invasive species can cause lengthy project delays, decreased property values, increased management and disposal costs, and potential damages to infrastructure and restoration efforts.

Ashleigh Gilbert

Ashleigh is a vegetation ecologist at PGL Environmental Consultants and has become the company’s go-to invasive species person. Through her experience working on a variety of projects from contamination remediation to environmental assessments, she has seen first-hand the importance of identifying and managing invasive species early on.
