Course Description
Risk assessment is a widely accepted tool for managing contaminated sites and an essential component of sustainable remediation. Consultants need to be able to offer risk assessment services to serve the best interests of their clients and site owners and managers need to understand the language of risk assessment to know what the results mean to them.
This three part webinar series takes ecological risk assessment to a practical level, giving you an understanding of the process, touching on where guidance ends and “best practice” takes over, and focusing on what really matters in terms of protection of the environment and meeting regulatory requirements.
Participants will enjoy a comprehensive guide to:
- The importance of a robust site characterization
- Identification of data gaps
- Developing a conceptual exposure model
- Estimating contaminant exposure for a variety of ecological receptors
- Measuring adverse effects and developing toxicity reference values
- Characterizing and communicating risk
- Identifying uncertainties and determining their importance
- Navigating the maze of risk assessment jargon
